What’s New In Social
Meta Opens Instagram Reels API Access to Third Party Platforms
Good news for social media agencies and businesses like us, because we no longer have to post reels manually at 8am on a Saturday. Meta is launching Instagram Reels API for external use.
This means that third party apps can now support Reels scheduling, insights, comment moderation, and more.
Meta explains on June 28:
“We will begin introducing Reels to several endpoints on the Instagram Platform. We are always looking to improve our content publishing and consumption experiences, whether people use Instagram natively, or via a third-party. After consistently hearing from our developer community that Reels is a top priority, we are excited to introduce Reels to a number of the endpoints that you may already be familiar with.”
They will roll the new update out to 25% of users on June 28, and to 100% of users on July 6.
Meta Launches NFT Displays on Facebook
Looks like NFTs aren’t going anywhere, especially now that they’ll be on Facebook.

In this post by Meta product Manager Navdeep Singh, Facebook users can now create custom NFT posts with a ‘Digital Collectible’ tag. User profiles will also have a dedicated NFT section where you can find all their non-fungible artworks.
Instagram also launched its first stage of NFT display options in May of this year.
Facebook now allows you to add a Community Manager to Moderate Live Broadcasts
Some more good news for agencies like us! You can now assign a dedicated Community Manager to moderate your Facebook Live Broadcast.
🚨New feature alert! Now, you can assign a Community Manager to help address harassment, bullying, and trolling when going Live on Facebook – giving you more time to focus on content. Learn more about Community Managers here: https://t.co/ZALzGlBZXw pic.twitter.com/ana6HlGZYy
— Meta for Creators (@MetaforCreators) June 29, 2022
This feature has been available for Instagram Live and Facebook Gaming for some time now, so we’re glad to see it on Facebook’s main platform.
Facebook explains:
“Community Managers moderate using their personal profiles, can turn on a Community Moderator badge visible to other viewers, and moderate streams without direct permissions or admin access to your Page… Roles with Moderator-level Task access can no longer perform live stream moderation, and will need to be invited as Community Managers.”
TikTok Tests Dedicated Shopping Feed with Users in Indonesia
TikTok is extensively developing its social commerce integrations, with users in Indonesia seeing a new ‘Shop’ tab in the app which sits next to the For You and Following tabs.
In the screenshots, there is a shopping cart icon on the top right, allowing you to add items in as you scroll and check out within the app, much like a mainstream ecommerce store. TikTok is following the steps of its Chinese counterpart Douyin, a similar app where most of its revenue now comes from eCommerce integrations.

In her Instagram caption she wrote:
act i RENAISSANCE 7.29
Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.
There’s only a few weeks before the album drops, and in the meantime, we’ll be listening to Break My Soul on repeat.
Elon Musk now has 100 MILLION Twitter Followers
He’s now the 6th user to pass the platform’s 9-digit follower count. But twitter users are asking “How many accounts are bots?”
@elonmusk is only 200K bots away from 100M followers!
— Matt Smith (@MatchasmMatt) June 26, 2022
This milestone happened while he’s in the process of buying Twitter for $44 billion, and he also happened to be gone for an unusually long time.
Elon Musk has now been missing for 9 days

Whatever happens, we’re sure he’ll find a way to get a billion at some point.

The Barbie Movie is the gift that keeps on giving
If your algorithm is the same as ours, you’ve been seeing tons of Barbie content lately. (we’re not complaining though.)
Though we don’t exactly know what the plot of the movie is, these new set videos make us even more excited! We are living for these matching rollerblading outfits and Ryan’s ‘Ken scream’.
